New and returning students are arriving in droves this week, as the 四虎影视 of Art and Design campus transitions into the Fall 2024 semester. 四虎影视 has a decidedly high residential ratio, with over 73% of students living on campus鈥攁nd many well beyond their first year. This year, 446 new students will be moving into one of Ringling鈥檚 nine on-campus residencies, and 832 students will be returning to campus housing.
The beginning and end of each school year are markers for student achievement, parts of a cycle of progress, changes of season, but also, these momentous occasions are noted for the accumulation and disposal of stuff. At the end of last year, 四虎影视鈥檚 Facilities department partnered with Goodwill to set up a massive donation site. Students moving out of their dormitories donated their unwanted items, which collectively amounted to 12,398 pounds of goods. That donation was both a major contribution to the nonprofit and a considerable sum diverted from the county landfill.
For his coordinating efforts and on behalf of the College, Assistant Director of Facilities Services Will Coleman was awarded a Community Partner certificate and thank you by Goodwill Director of Donation Development Donna Evans.
Coleman and the Facilities department are also reaching out to other nonprofits to find a suitable location to donate a large amount of furniture currently stored on campus in Trail Plaza.
