Any services that cannot be provided directly on-site at the Student Health Center can be coordinated within Sarasota Memorial Hospital鈥檚 comprehensive network of services.

The Peterson Counseling Center

The Peterson Counseling Center (PCC) provides free, confidential services for Ringling students, including brief individual and group counseling; emergency psychological services; consultation with home and community providers for students with specialized or long-term needs that require specialized off-campus treatment; and outreach and educational programming. The PCC also offers psychological consultation to students, faculty, and staff as well as parents and families who are concerned about a student.

Health Insurance Requirement
四虎影视 requires all degree-seeking students to be covered by a comprehensive health insurance plan.

All degree-seeking students are automatically enrolled in and billed for the Ringling Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) on an annual basis. To waive or enroll, visit the and select either 鈥淲aiver Form鈥 or 鈥淓nrollment Form鈥 in the navigation menu, complete all required information, and click submit. You will receive a confirmation email to your @c.ringling.edu email address. The deadline to waive or enroll for the 2024-2025 academic year is August 23, 2024.

If you are waiving the SHIP, you will be able to avoid the charge on your student account by waiving prior to June 1.听Please note: It may take up to five business days for the charge to be reversed once the waiver is approved. If a waiver form is not submitted, the student will be automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan after the deadline date. Waivers cannot be accepted after August 23, 2024. Partial refunds will not be granted. Students may not withdraw from the full-academic year policy after the deadline.

Required Health Insurance for International Students

Health Insurance Requirement
四虎影视 requires all degree-seeking students to be covered by a comprehensive health insurance plan.

All international students are automatically enrolled in and billed for the 四虎影视 Student Health Insurance Plan and do not need to take any action. International students do not have access to the online waiver and enrollment forms. International students will receive an email from United Healthcare by August 1 advising them to create an online account and download a copy of their Insurance ID Card.

International students that have a U.S.-based health insurance plan that is comparable to the Ringling Student Health Insurance Plan should contact University Health Plans at 833-251-1145 or email to request a paper waiver form. The deadline to submit a paper waiver form for the 2023-24 academic year is August 23, 2024. Paper waiver forms cannot be accepted after the deadline date. Partial refunds will not be granted. Students may not withdraw from the full academic year policy after the deadline.

The 四虎影视 Student Health Insurance Plan is a cost-effective health insurance plan designed to meet the regulations of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act standards. A student may continue an existing fully paid policy after withdrawal, until its expiration, but may not open a new policy as part of our student group or 鈥渞enew鈥 a student group policy while not currently enrolled (which includes time on leave).

Fitness Center Required Waiver Information

All students, staff, and guests using the on-campus fitness center must complete a to use the facility or participate in group classes. Please allow up to five business days for your Ringling ID to be active once you submit the fitness center waiver.

Student Medical Services

On-Campus Services

The Student Health Center is located on campus on Bradenton Rd at the corner of Dr. Martin Luther King Way, and is available to students Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. No appointment is necessary, but students must bring their Ringling ID and insurance card to each visit.

Services We Provide
The Student Health Center is equipped to diagnose and treat most common illnesses and conditions including:

  • Colds and flu
  • Earaches
  • Sore throats
  • Eye injuries
  • Bronchitis
  • Minor lacerations and burns
  • Sinus infection
  • Skin rashes
  • Urinary problems
  • Physicals
  • Gynecological problems
  • Sprains, strains, and fractures


The following services will be provided at no additional cost for Ringling students:

  • Visits with a mid-level provider
  • Annual flu shot for every student
  • Annual routine female gynecological exam and pap smear
  • Allergy injection therapy
  • On-site laboratory testing including urine dip, rapid strep, and pregnancy
  • After hours visit with a physician provided at any Sarasota Memorial Hospital Urgent Care Center location at no cost to students (Costs may be incurred to the student if any additional services are provided.)
  • STD testing (Gonorrhea, chlamydia, bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, yeast, and HSV culture)


Services Provided for a Fee
The following medical services can be provided for an additional fee; some of these fees can be billed to insurance depending on individual coverage or can be paid for at the time of service utilizing our discounted self-pay prices:

  • Vaccinations
  • Medications administered in the Student Health Center
  • Outside laboratory fees for tests that cannot be completed in the Student Health Center
  • Medical supplies such as splints and slings
  • Laceration repair and incision and drainage procedures


Services Not Provided On-Site
The following services will not be provided directly onsite at the Student Health Center but can be arranged and coordinated within Sarasota Memorial鈥檚 comprehensive network of services:

  • Radiology services
  • Physical therapy services
  • 12-lead EKG
  • Follow-up care for specialist visits at First Physicians Group of Sarasota
  • Urgent or emergency room care

Insurance Cards and App

To use Sarasota Memorial Hospital Urgent Care Center, you will need to print your card.

UnitedHealthcare Mobile App
If you have the Ringling Student Health Insurance Plan insured by UnitedHealthcare StudentResources (UHCSR) you can access your information and insurance card via mobile website or may find the UHCSR Mobile App is more convenient. With the app, you can access the most popular self-service features like viewing and sharing your ID card, viewing recent claims, and searching for a provider. If you haven鈥檛 set up your account yet, you can even do that via the mobile app. Search UHCSR in your app store or the mobile app can be downloaded at either the for Apple smartphones or for Android smartphones.

UnitedHealthcare Account
If you have the Ringling Student Health Insurance Plan, you will also be able to print your insurance card by following the directions outlined here.

UHCSR provides a personal website to download and print ID cards, lookup claims status, review Explanations of Benefits (EOBs) and search the provider network. To register, visit the website to 鈥淐reate Your Account.鈥 You should only need your name, date of birth, and email address (use your College email address). UHCSR has gone 鈥済reen鈥 and does not mail ID cards. You will need to present your insurance card each time you visit a physician's office as well as when you come into the on-campus health center.

Making an Appointment
When you make an appointment with a provider, be certain that the provider is currently a United Healthcare Choice Plus provider. Frequently, patients ask "Do you take my insurance?" which most providers will. However, the appropriate question is to ask if the doctor, therapist, etc. is an in-network provider for your plan. Before making an appointment off campus, we encourage you to research the provider online and then confirm the network status when making the appointment. In-network providers should know the protocol to determine the coverage available to you.

Ringling students may also visit any of the Sarasota Memorial Urgent Care off-campus to meet with a physician free of charge (show your Ringling ID and insurance card). Students will be required to complete a medical questionnaire. Additional services provided may incur a cost that you can discuss with your provider before proceeding.

Medication Administration and Mailing

Medication Administration (Allergy, Testosterone, B12, Birth Control)
Please note we cannot administer any home medications at Health Services, brought in by a student. This includes allergy medication, testosterone, B12, and injectable birth control.

The student should have their Physician or Pharmacy mail/deliver the medication to the following address:

  1. Please have the box clearly marked that it requires refrigeration.
  2. Please provide a letter or an order signed by the MD requesting the administration of injectable medication as indicated on the written instructions that are sent with each vial. This can be written on an Rx pad. Any information pertinent to treatment should be sent along with this order.
  3. Provide an instruction sheet with your physician's name, address, phone, and fax numbers.
  4. Provide clearly written instructions for each vial, including contents, strength, dosage, and frequency of each injection, with a schedule to follow for missed injections, local and system reactions.
  5. Each vial should be clearly labeled with:
    1. Patient's name
    2. Name of mix/solution
    3. Strength of each vial's solution
    4. Expiration date


Note that the College and SMH are not responsible for packages lost or delayed, and students with possible health risks from not receiving their medication should not rely on mail service. Do not mail items that are irreplaceable. The individual is responsible for appropriate insurance and tracking. Please consult your doctor and local, state, and federal laws before mailing prescriptions which may be illegal in some circumstances. Never mail controlled substances. Always mail items in their original containers with clear labels.

On-Campus Prescription Delivery

Walgreens works with our students to deliver medications to campus with proper prescription information during normal business hours. You can stop by the Health Center or contact Walgreens directly to sign up for this service. Be sure to mention RINGLING COLLEGE HEALTH CENTER DELIVERY if you would like to participate in this service free of charge.
